JESSICA JEAN MUIR, LMT, RYT, SOMATIC COACH & FACILITATOR, SOMA HOUSE CO-OWNER
I am a somatic practitioner and facililitator of 10+ years and believe deeply in the power of body based therapy for grounded, evidence-based healing and growth. It is my honor to offer bodywork/massage therapy, energy work, trauma touch therapy, breath work and movement experiences to the community.
I discovered my love of body-based therapy in 2014 during a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Three Sisters Yoga in Manhattan. After that certification I went on to teach yoga and yoga-based classes and workshops at studios in New York City, Colorado, California and Costa Rica. I have also trained and received additional yoga teaching hours and credentials in: Yin Yoga, Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy through The Prison Yoga Project and Hot and Hot Power Fusion Yoga at Core Power Yoga. In total I am credentialed to teach with 500+ hours of yoga teacher training. I am relentlessly passionate about the study of holistic healing through somatics and I learned so much about powerful space holding and teaching skills from my role as a yoga teacher.
After completing my Bachelor's degree in New York City, I went on to graduate from the Colorado School of Healing arts in June of 2017 as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT 700). During the 700 hour program at CSHA, I studied modalities such as Swedish, Deep-tissue, Neuromuscular and Sports massage. Additionally, I completed a specialty certification in pre-natal massage to honor my love and admiration of the divine feminine. I specialize in neuro-muscular and deep tissue massage with the fluidity and flow of a Swedish to integrate both muscle and nervous system healing.
During my time at Colorado School of Healing Arts I was introduced to, and completed training in Trauma Touch Therapy. This modality has impacted and informed just about every single thing I offer and hold space for within my practice. All pieces of my somatic-based offerings are trauma informed and I am experienced and comfortable with supporting folks through emotional release and unravelling on the table. Currently, I facilitate Trauma Touch Therapy sessions by request only.
I believe that working with the energetic body is an important part of a holistic Somatic approach. I received my Level I and II Reiki certification in 2017 and consider myself an intuitive energy worker with roots in the Reiki lineage. I integrate energy work into my sessions upon request.
I completed my Revelation breathwork certified facilitator training in 2020 and love incorporating power breathwork techniques into my various offerings.
I have studied Ecstatic dance with the power house Malaika Darville and tantra with the deeply divine duo Homa and Mukto and both of these practices define my work in the way that they address presence, energetics and intuition.
Within my role as a Somatic coach and facilitator, I have served 250+ clients and have deep experience working with folks using the very full and diverse tool belt of somatic processing and healing skills I have acquired over the last decade. I have facilitated 1:1 sessions, masterminds, ecstatic dances, women's circles, courses, retreats, personal ceremony and more.
Finally and maybe most importantly, I have studied extensively at the “school of life” and pull from the experience and the deep knowledge I have acquired over the years while working with clients but also my self. I have been receiving somatic counseling for over 8 years and this modality has deeply impacted how I work with clients. My approach to Somatic work is informed by training and also intuition and experience. I am constantly learning, expanding and deepening my knowledge to be the most effective and transformative catalyst for my community.
